Getting to know AntFarm Acres Community Garden!
What is AntFarm Acres Community Garden?
AntFarm Arces Community Garden was conceived by friends with a shared dream and common goal to create something from nothing. We are a mix of creative talents who wish to one day have a beautiful garden that will be shared with our friends and neighbors. A place that is welcoming, interesting and bountiful. There are so many possibilities for our small patch of earth and we hope to share with you via this blog our journey from our humble rocky soil beginnings to something special.

We started with some Goals:
- Grow food, teas and medicine for ourselves and our communities.
- Influence how people understand their relationship with nature.
- Build and educate our community.
- Be a good caretaker of those pieces of nature under our stewardship.
- Provide habitat, especially to those creatures that tend the garden.
- Minimize waste and pollution generated by our efforts.
- Create a place where the deep beauty of nature can manifest.
- Create a place where we can look deeply into the heart of nature and grow wisdom as well as plants.
- Generate some income from our efforts that can be put back into the AntFarm Acres Community Garden.
We made some plans and asked ourselves some questions:
- Layout of the garden what areas do we wish to have in it:
1. Food Forest
2. Crop Beds
3. Herb Garden
4. Family Garden
5. Water Feature
6. Hangout Area
- Test Soil Levels in upper and lower parts of the garden.
- Design and build a green house with moisture collection system that has indoor and outdoor growing spaces.
- Design and create a self watering system for the garden.
- Start a composting system with worms and create worm pee fertilizer.
- What type of plants do we wish to grow and what plants will be best suited to our soil, climate and environment?
- What crops do we wish to grow?
- Do we want a Aquaponic system? http://www.backyardaquaponics.com/the-dream.html
- Do we get Chickens?
